Pub quiz generator

A full quiz night, written for you

Pick your themes, generate a round for each, and host the night on a big screen with teams answering from their phones. No printing, no marking, no arguing about whose answer sheet said what.

How it works

  1. 1

    Generate a round per theme

Music, film, geography, the 90s, local history — a few words each, and you get a round back. Repeat until the night is full.

  2. 2

    Season it with media

Add a picture round with image questions, an intro round with trimmed audio clips, or a video round from YouTube moments.

  3. 3

    Host and let it score

The PIN goes on the screen, teams join on one phone each, and the leaderboard settles it. Faster correct answers score more.

The night, not just the questions

A quiz night is a running order, not a list. A good one opens easy so nobody feels stupid in round one, puts the picture round in the middle where attention dips, keeps the hard round for when people are warmed up, and ends on something everyone has an opinion about. Yippito lets you build that shape quickly: generate each round separately, reorder questions by dragging, and set longer timers for the ones that deserve thinking time.

Scoring rewards speed as well as accuracy, which changes the feel — teams stop conferring for a minute on every question. If you would rather have deliberation, give those questions a longer timer and it evens out.

Check the answers before the night

Trivia is exactly where an AI is most likely to be confidently wrong: record holders change, "the largest" depends on how you measure, and a question that hinges on a date is only as good as the model’s memory of it. General knowledge questions get a second fact-checking pass, and options are shuffled so the answer is not always the first one — but nothing beats a host reading the round through before the room does.

If you want to be certain, generate from a source you trust: paste an article or link a web page, and the questions stay inside that material.

What the teams see

Everyone joins from a phone browser with a five-digit PIN or by scanning the QR code — no app, no accounts, no email addresses. Team names come from whatever nickname they type, which is half the entertainment. Between questions the leaderboard goes up on the big screen, and the podium at the end saves you doing the arithmetic.

Scoring that settles itself

Speed-weighted points, a live leaderboard between questions and a podium at the end.

Up to 300 players

Enough for a full pub. Everyone joins from their own phone, free during beta.

Questions people ask

How many rounds can one quiz have?

As many as you like — generate a round at a time and append each one to the same quiz. Up to 50 questions per generation run.

Can I do a picture round or a music round?

Yes. Image questions cover the picture round, and audio or YouTube questions with clip trimming cover intros — you set exactly which seconds play.

How do teams answer?

One phone per team joins with the PIN or the QR code and types a team name. Answers are tapped in on the phone; the big screen shows the question and the scores.

Are the trivia answers reliable?

General knowledge questions get a second fact-checking pass and you can edit anything, but read the round through before the night — trivia is exactly where a language model is most likely to be confidently wrong.

Do I need to print answer sheets?

No. Scoring, the leaderboard and the final standings are handled live, so there is nothing to mark.
